Geannina Burgos is an associate attorney at Dabdoub Law Firm, P.A., a nationwide disability insurance law firm that helps people get disability benefits from insurance companies. Mrs. Burgos’ law practice is devoted to helping people who cannot work because of injury or sickness. Her clients are entitled to disability benefits from insurance companies under an individual/private disability insurance policy or through a long-term disability policy from work. She handles all aspects of long-term disability claims. This includes the initial claim review and appeals of denied disability claims. Mrs. Burgos also litigates wrongful denials of disability benefits by insurance companies in state and federal court. Many of the cases Mrs. Burgos handles fall under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA), a federal statute that governs most claims for long-term disability benefits.
While in law school, Mrs. Burgos was awarded scholarships from Florida Association of Women Lawyers, Ruden McKlosky Foundation, and the Young Lawyers’ Division of the Florida Bar. She also gained experience from a judicial clerkship with the Third District Court of Appeal under the Honorable Judge Barbara Lagoa and participated in Florida International University’s College of Law’s Small Business Clinic. She was awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Mediation. Prior to becoming an attorney, Mrs. Burgos was a professional ballet dancer. She also ran a local multi-site non-profit arts education organization for seven years.
Mrs. Burgos is admitted to practice law in the State of Florida, United States District Court Southern District of Florida, the United States District Court Middle District of Florida, and the United States District Court Northern District of Florida. Mrs. Burgos holds an MBA with a concentration in Entrepreneurship.
